Comparison of the Return on Investment of Two Energy Production Companies in Hungary Using Different Biomass-Based Technologies

Abstract Subject and purpose of work: Using renewable organic material for energy generation exhibits an increasing trend globally, also in Hungary. The aim the Renewable Energy Action Plan European Union is to increase share production from resources 32% by 2030. At present, sources represent 10.2% Hungary’s primary consumption. Materials methods: This study has examined financial feasibility two companies Kunság region Hungary that participate market with different types technologies, a biogas facility short rotation forest plantation. As incentives establishment propagation bioenergy producing enterprises are offered both EU Hungary, calculations presented without subsidies. Results: results show regardless method, subsidies, none businesses could make profit period under review. Conclusions: main reasons behind unprofitable operations initial high capital outlay, logistics costs, immature technological solutions suppressed purchasing prices.
